How to preform daily and general computer maintenance for the windows operating system
In the last article, we looked at three things you can do to maintain your computer to keep it running at its best. In this article, we are going to take a look at a few more.
First, is weekly using your computer's scanning and performance boosting software. For Dell, this is Dell Support Assist; for HP, this is HP Support Assist; and for Apple this is Apple Support. These programs can easily be found by hitting the windows key and searching for the app. Once on the app, just run the full scan and the program will take care of the rest.
Second, is by having an antivirus software. In the internet age, having an antivirus software is a must because thousands of computers are broken into daily and there are lots of nasty bugs and files on the internet. An antivirus software puts up a firewall that stops infected downloads, stops you from viewing an infected site, and makes it harder for people to get your information. In addition, these programs often have features to clean your computer and remove bugs, enhancing its performance. Though you do have to pay for them, they are well worth the cost. Plus, many are now allowing you to pay one price, but use several devices on the same plan.
Finally, is by literally cleaning your computer. Regularly, you should clean your key board and screen, dust the air vents, and make sure the ports are clean with a qtip. Though this sounds obvious, there are a good number of people who fail to do this simple maintenance step. The most common thing that happens is stuff like food gets underneath the keyboard making the keys stick or not work at all. However, a simple regular clean can prevent this (and also not using the keyboard with cheeto dust on your hands).
